About

Oxnard. Hardcore. NARD+CORE=Nardcore! Nardcore started with the musical progression of bands from Oxnard like Agression, Dr. Know, Ill Repute, and Stalag 13. However, the scene wasn’t limited to just Oxnard. Earlier punk bands like Assault and the Rotters were from Ventura, and later bands sprung up in the surrounding communities of Camarillo, Ventura, Port Hueneme and Santa Paula. It took 60 miles north to bring them all together. See this fantastic link for more info on 60 miles north.

But I can't really do justice to the Nardcore scene on this one page. I truly just provided this page to let all the Oxnard locals comment on the site, or post any new info about upcoming shows. Also, I have provided links on the right side-bar to all the nardcore collectables I find on the web. Click on the Comments link to make a post.

To really find out about the current scene, you gotta check out the number one Nardcore site.

Dude...Your site rules! You should really add some more info about the Nardcore scene. Did you go to the Dr. Know show at Skate Street last weekend?

I wasn't able to make it the Dr. Know show at Skate street. I wanted to go to snap some photos. Instead I attended a Barbeque for "Rise" music, which was a reunion of sorts, of local Ventura musicians who collaborated on a CD for Rise music.

during the 1980s i was a neuve automoton who fought in the ratalin riots , i remember nardcore distinctivley because many years later we played a hardcore show with rkl and it just so happens that intense energy by aggression was and still is one of my all time favourite tracks now i am about to join blitz ,

SO CAL HARDCORE FOR ME REPRESENTS A TIME OF GREAT INNOVATION IN TERMS OF THE WAY IN WHICH IT WAS MADE DURING THE POST ADOLESCENTS ERA I THINK THAT THE STERN BROTHERS WHERE DIRECTLEY RESPONSABLE FOR THIS ACHEIVEMENT WITH THEIR SEMINAL COMPILATION SOMEBODYS GOING TO GET THEIR HEADS KICKED IN

Posted by: GUNDAR | Dec 11, 2004 1:27:28 AM

FOR ME TYHE OXNARD SOUND WAS THE TURNING POINT FOR PUNK ROCK TO CONCENTRATE ON THE WAY THEY MADE THEIR RECORDS IN TERMS OF TECHNICAL PRODUCTION

Posted by: GUNDAR | Dec 11, 2004 1:32:16 AM

NARDCORE WAS NOT JUST CONTENT WITH BEING A GENERIC THREE CHORD PUNK SOUND I ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT IT SOMEHOW LIVED BEYOND ITS TIME IT HAD SEEM TO ABANDON ITS DESIRE TO FORMULISE AN ANTHEMIC APPROACH AND INSTEAD WAS ALMOST REBELLING AGAINST WHAT THE MAINSTREAM PUNK POPULOUSREPRESENTED ON ONE HAND YOU HAD BANDS LIKE THE BLADES WHO WHERE CAPABLE AT EVEN THAT EARLY STAGE TO GLORIFY FAUVE POLICISM DURING ATIME WHEN IT WAS OUTDATED AND ON THE OTHER HAND IT WAS CAPABLE OF QUESTIONING THE DEMORILIZATION OF REAGENS AMERICA

jfa to me represented the un coolness that a lot of punks particularly of the clinton era seem so misinformingly seem to think is the best method to be . the same could be said for ill repute .imagine the scene sub pop was dominating the un terrestrial airwaves with music that lyricised the idioticness of its forefathers it would be enough to drive any self respecting punk rocker barmy.then suddenley from out of nowhere came the return of the repute kurt cobain and thatcornelious character must have been quacking in their dr martins . here you actually had oxnards prototype turning the seriousness of dung music into a parody of itself.

hi, my name is Brian I drew the cover of the NARDCORE compilation record that came out in the eighties. Recently I got a request to re-draw the cover as a paid assignment but its been years since I owned a copy. I was wondering if someone out there who had the cover could send me a scan of it so I can work from it. It would be appreciated.

Here is a funny story: did you know that the original cover was a heavy pencil drawing? That is right..until the folks at Mystic decided to have someone DRAW OVER IT IN PEN (and not even contacting me to do it personally) so what came out is that..thing! Beleive me, not that I was a genius cartoonist back then but it certainly looked a million times better!

anywas, here is my e-mail address in anyone could help me out:

thanks! - brian walsby

Duuuude! I'm from New Orleans and I bought this record in 87',88', I can't remember but it had the killerist hardcore on it, it was called "party animal" and it was all oxnard hardcore bands "Nardcore" ha ha but shit later in 92' I got stationed there at Port Huenneme(sp?) and it was alot of mexicans ha ha but shit I got turned on to Kyuss there so it made up for it, plus acid was waaaaay cheaper there than New Orleans, anyway I want this fuckin record back cause I lost it along side my collection in that cunt Katrina.
There was some strange shit on it too that I really dug as well dealing with lungs and shit..
